So summer school isn’t going very well for me. My 12 pm Econometrics course is boring and full of theory - welcome back to the UC system! Fortunately the 8 am class that I started today, a Managerial Accounting course, is taught by this ridiculously cynical woman whom I’ve already decided is going to be my next best friend. She drones as she lectures and makes accounting analogies in funny high pitched voices; I laugh, she smiles appreciatively. Anyways, I am writing this post to officially confirm that what my mom said to me about going to school when you’re young is 100% correct. She said (again to reiterate) that it is easier to go to school when you’re young - which I pretty much take to mean that if you try and go back later in life, you just end up feeling more ancient and even more depressed that you’re taking classes with people who you can’t even converse with. I mean, I am not even old and I am finding it difficult to even be in the same room with people who were born practically in the 90s. My remedy for this has been sitting in the front row of my lectures, so that I have minimal contact with the teeny boppers. They’re always talking amongst themselves, eating food, or making it a point to appear smart-alek-y by calling out mistakes that the professor has made while writing a 10 line summation equation. Who cares if it was a minus sign and that I would have totally gotten that question wrong on the exam? Ok, they aren’t that bad, but still.

At any rate, the good thing is that summer session isn’t that long. In the meantime, I just need to hole myself up at the library and stop bringing my laptop to school as a distraction. Bringing lunch will also help, as I am spending way too much money on food on Telegraph. And here is a funny comic that Rosanna forwarded to me from her dad a couple of years ago.

Today I started summer school at Cal. The average age of everyone in my class was probably 20. I asked a kid which class it was, because I walked in late and he says, “Econ 140.” Um, thank you?! Anyways, there were 100 people in the classroom with people sitting in the aisles, and I was almost a little shocked. Have I acclimated to private school at Mills already? I guess it’s been awhile since I’ve been in a UC classroom.

Anyways, then I went to the DMV. Nothing really exciting happened there, except for a potentially really bad license picture.

I love birthdays. Especially my own.

The end.

Today was a beautiful day in SF. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping! As a side note, I love to wake up in Los Altos during the summer because it's so peaceful to hear the birds twittering away outside. It was kind of refreshing to hear some in the grungy Tenderloin. Anyways, it's my officially my last full week of nothingness before summer school starts. I had lunch with some old coworkers, went shopping (unsuccessfully) for something to wear for my upcoming birthday, went to Crate and Barrel to oogle over furniture and plates, and then went to Chrissy Field for a nice run. Lily and I started our long(er) runs for the half and we had a pretty nice pace this past Sunday in GGP. I'm totally digging the half marathon training. It doesn't cut too much into my life but it's enough to keep me on track. Now it's off to meet my mom and cousin at my favorite sushi place. Alright, that's enough of my own twittering for now.

Yeah, that’s Chris O’Donnell. WITH KIDS. They are so ridiculously cute and tiny. So Chris O’Donnell wasn’t the most successful of actors (ie: Batman and Robin), but I watched most of his movies. Who was your crush?

Today I woke up and went to Berkeley to see Sean, my PT. Sometimes I wonder why I pay to see my PT. First of all, whenever I get there it seems that I’m already doing everything possible for my injury. Sean just confirms that what I found on the Internet is correct. Ok I’ll give him that. Anyways, I guess the best part of PT is that I can ask for a massage for the low low price of $13. Albeit, these massages aren’t your normal massages. One time, my PT needed to “access” a certain part of my shoulder that he could only reach through my armpit. Yeah. But today I got ultrasound on my wrist. Apparently I pulled a ligament in my wrist and since blood doesn’t circulate directly to ligaments, you must “stimulate” everything around it in order to get it to heal. It was kind of fun.

After Berkeley, I ran some errands and grabbed a burrito. Now, I think everyone knows that I’m not the biggest burrito fan. But I found this place called High Tech Burrito a few years ago where I can order my ridiculous froofy “Starbucks”-esque version of a burrito. Whole wheat tortilla, grilled chicken, salsa, tomatoes and lettuce. It’s like a wrap. With burrito in hand, I headed over the Bay Bridge to Fort Point, and sat under the Golden Gate and ate my lunch. It was such a glorious day. This bird tried to steal pieces of burrito that happened to fall out.

Then I headed over to Wise to check out some surfboards. Surprisingly it seems that surfboards are not subject to inflation. They all seemed to be the same price that they were as when I bought my first board in 1999/2000. I didn’t buy one today, but they sure were purdies. Anyways, that’s all.

Happy almost Friday.

So I’ve been hanging out in Los Altos. Unfortunately it was a pretty gloomy three day weekend. But today turned out pretty nice. After eating fresh baked sliced bread all day (which I toasted and slathered with butter), I went out for a nice run. It was a little windy, but nothing too crazy. Then I got to take advantage of the best part about coming home, which was the pool. There is nothing better than going for a run and then immediately jumping into an ice cold pool and for once I’m not being facetious. The pool was 68 degrees and felt amazing. Now I’m laying out. Yay.

At any rate, half marathon training has been going well. I got 4 solid runs in last week, and will be increasing my long runs by 10% every week. It feels a lot nicer to be training with Lily and not with TnT this time. Less pressure. More pasta! I actually think I’m gonna go get a Jamba Juice.

So today is my “official” kick off to summer. Last week I was a little discombobulated from finals and the hot weather. But here are my plans so far…in random order.

Beginning half marathon training with Lily and Christine. John from SD may join - you know you want to John.

Go to a concert at the Greek - I haven’t been into live shows too much over the past couple of years. I think that’s mainly due to the fact that I haven’t really been super into any one band to get excited about going.

Go camping - The last time I went camping was up in Mendocino two years ago and it was during a heat wave…the camp site was 113 degrees F during the day. Wasn’t the best trip.

Going to L.A. for July 4th weekend - Already bought ticket.

Study French and Korean - These are the two foreign languages that I have been studying all of my life…and I still suck at speaking both.

Summer school - Yeah I know. I’ll be at Cal with the kiddies. If anyone is up for Intermezzo, I can meet them there for lunch.

Learn golf/tennis - I don’t know if these sports will work out with my PT on my shoulder, but I really do want to learn. Yeah right. I just want an excuse to buy/wear tennis shorts and drive the golf cart around.

Buy a bike - I dunno about this one. I don’t know where I would store it, cause I feel like my building is pretty shady. But I guess I could bring my 1 billion year old bike up from Los Altos. That way if it got stolen I would have more justification for spending money on a bike.

See all of the summer blockbusters (in IMAX if possible) - I just got my AMC MovieWatcher card in the mail. If you want to come with me on Wednesdays, I get free popcorn. I don’t eat popcorn, so you can have the whole thing.

Go hiking more - I went hiking up in Muir Woods with some friends a couple of months ago. We hiked to the top and drank a couple of beers and then I fell and sprained my ankle on the way down and then threw up when I got home. Other than the sprained ankle and throwing up, I really enjoyed it.

Pool party in August - Summer wouldn’t be complete without one. I’m not going to do one for my birthday this year, but definitely one later in August.

2/3 weddings - Rosanna’s and Natalie’s weddings in Carmel and Tahoe respectively. Should be fun.

29th Birthday - This isn’t really something that I can stop from happening, but whatever. Probably rooftop apps and then hit the bars afterwards. Pimms will still be served.

I think that’s good enough for now. And today I need to clean. Laundry piles shouldn’t move on their own volition.
